Two Cities, Two Teams, One Amazing Weekend!

Hi Reader,

This past weekend, we split up our Contamination team to cover not one, but two cities - and it was unforgettable.

While my co-director David Heacock and I travelled to Calgary for our latest round of screenings at Landmark Cinemas, members of our cast and crew were holding it down in Edmonton for the extended run there. It was surreal watching audiences respond to the film in two different cities at once - and just as incredible to see the continued support for this wild little indie action movie of ours.

After each screening, we held Q&As with the audience, and took photos with fans outside the theatre. The conversations were amazing - full of thoughtful questions and awesome observations about everything from locations and casting, to logistics, favorite scenes, and even the emotional core of the story.

When you make a movie on a modest budget with a lot of heart, this kind of response means everything.

We got back home yesterday and jumped straight into another interview, this time with a local film school program. The questions were sharp, insightful, and came from a group of students who clearly live and breathe storytelling.

And no, we haven’t had much downtime - but that’s indie filmmaking. There’s no coasting. You’re always working behind the scenes - prepping the next screening, managing publicity, editing promo material, or answering emails at midnight.

Right now, we’re using every spare moment to plan for our upcoming theatrical screenings in other Canadian cities. We want every city to feel as connected and energized as Edmonton and Calgary have.

On top of the release, I’m continuing to teach my Zero to Hero screenwriting course, which has been an absolute pleasure over the last few months. I’m also staying active with story coaching clients, and working on new screenplays and story ideas that are waiting to come to life.

One question we keep hearing at nearly every screening is: “What’s next?”

It’s a great question - and honestly, the answer is complicated. A lot depends on how far Contamination goes.

But I will say this: With every successful screening, the possibility of a sequel gets stronger. So… stay tuned!

Hi Reader, You ever watch a movie and think… “This should have worked. The pieces were all there. So what went wrong?” That’s exactly what happened to me at the tail end of my winter holidays. I finally had a free evening to do something I rarely get to do during the year: absolutely nothing. Well… almost nothing. After a steady diet of holiday movies with the kids and way too much stuffing, I decided it was time for something a little different. So I fired up a movie I’d been meaning to...

Hi Reader, What a year it’s been. Looking back on 2025, I’m honestly filled with gratitude - not just for the things I got to create, but for the people who’ve supported me along the way. That means YOU. Whether you've watched my videos, joined my courses, booked a coaching session, or just sent a kind message - you’ve helped make this year one of the most meaningful of my creative life. So before we head into 2026, I wanted to take a minute to reflect, share some personal highlights, and let...

Hi Reader, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! The holiday rush is winding down. The wrapping paper’s been tossed, the turkey’s carved (again), and your fridge is probably full of leftovers and half-eaten desserts. And honestly? That’s perfect. Because this whole slow stretch between Christmas and New Year’s isn’t just for food, movies, and football (though, yes to all of those). It’s also one of the best times of the year to pause and recharge. Here’s your gentle reminder: Rest is not a...
